CT Wetlands Law

Hear is a link to an abbreviated version of the CT Wetlands laws. CT Wetlands law

Here are the CT laws pertaining to Wetlands (click Above). I have included the parts that apply to the Proposed dock. The bottom line is that you cannot simply fill in tidal wetlands. I suspect most people already know that. The document starts with "...much of the wetlands of this state has been lost or despoiled by unregulated dredging, dumping, filling and like activities and that the remaining wetlands of this state are all in jeopardy of being lost or despoiled by these and other activities,..."

Most people are cognizant of the laws and obey them. Unfortunately some people either disregard the laws or try to find loopholes to circumvent the intention by elected officials to protect the environment. Damaging the wetlands, and the fragile ecosystems around them hurts everybody. The damage extends far beyond property lines and can effect health, jobs, climate, tourism, and wildlife.

"In some rare cases, unacceptable adverse impacts to coastal resources or navigation may preclude construction of any dock structure." CT DEEP
